Ongoing Events:

For Lent, we'll be reading Gifts of the Dark Wood by Eric Elnes. We'll meet at Tuesdays at 1 pm to discuss the chapters and what we are learning about the paradoxical gifts of uncertainty, emptiness, getting lost, and more.

Our book club meets on the third Thursday of the month at 10 am. Contact the church office for information about the current book.

Join seniors at the church the second Wednesday of the month for fellowship over breakfast at Oakland Diner. Contact the church office to learn more.

One Saturday a month, parents of young children gather for coffee or brunch while the kids play. Contact Pastor Alison for more information, the location, or questions.

On Tuesdays from 9-1, a group from FLUMC travels to Paterson to help out at CUMAC, a food pantry. We also serve Meals-on-Wheels regularly and have one-time service opportunities as often as we can.

We have two thriving gardens: one by the entrance to the church and one at McBride Field across from Market Basket in town. These gardens both grow fresh vegetables for CUMAC. We are always looking for new volunteers, new ideas, and people who are as passionate about growing healthy food as we are! Be in touch.

A group of folks from FLUMC who love the outdoors go on regular hikes as a way to connect with each other and with God through nature.  Some hikes are on weekdays and some on weekends.  Everyone is welcome!  Please contact Pat Andrews ( with questions or with ideas for this new group.

On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 11:30 a.m. and also on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., the church hosts mindfulness meditation taught by Colleen Galagher. Learn guided practice for awareness, breath, simple movement and guided meditations to help regulate emotions, reduce stress and anxiety, balance the nervous system and create well being. Donation suggested. Contact or call 201-891-0022 for more information

Upcoming Events:

Pastor Alison will be leading a women's retreat on the theme "Small Things, Great Love." The focus will be on how we prioritize love in our lives. The retreat costs $15 and includes speakers, group discussion, prayer time, and lunch. Women of any age from any church are welcome.

Help young families in Paterson care for their babies by donating diapers to CUMAC. Baby food is also needed. Thank you!

Join with members of other faith communities in Franklin Lakes and Oakland for a shared meal and then working together in three gardens around town to get them ready for the growing season.

There's now a coffee house that meets in our beautiful, historic, recently renovated sanctuary space! On the first Friday of each month, local musicans come to share their talent. Locally roasted coffee, loose leaf tea, and other seasonal beverages and treats are served. Learn more at The Old Stone website or like its Facebook page.
